I’m sitting here in our new “tree house” looking at the trees and the city and thinking how peaceful our new house is. We had a wonderful, exhausting weekend celebrating the new house and, most important, Desmond’s 1st birthday. Luckily, I have the most amazing friends and family who all pitched in and got the house in perfect condition. We had a great party in the warmth and sunshine and our house was filled with friends and Brian’s family. Daniel and Roger, my long time friends who now live in Portland, spent the night with their gorgeous dog, Stella (who Desmond is obsessed with) and we had a lovely brunch this morning with all my BFFs and their families.
Now I’m finally sitting down to relax and get ready for the big week ahead. Surgery is a mere 38 hours away and I feel like I really have to mentally get prepared for this big step. My friend and “cancer guru”, Andrea, said to remind myself that after Tuesday I could say I’m technically “cancer free”. I like that.
I’m going to Nordstrom tomorrow to get special bras for post-mastectomy. That should be an interesting fitting. I’ll have to treat myself to a new pair of shoes or outfit to help with my therapy.
I’ll keep you all updated on how it goes Tuesday. I’m sure all will be well…especially with all your thoughts and prayers. A big shout-out to my amazing husband who not only worked like a dog to get ready for the party, but is now at the old house cleaning and getting the last load. He’s a saint, seriously.
Love to all…
