Desmond just went to sleep and I am sitting down to enjoy my nightly mini cupcake and glass of red wine. It’s my ritual to unwind at the end of the day. I’m feeling a little stretched thin this week. It’s amazing that us busy people can juggle it all…with our careers, kids, family, friends and home “chores”. Throw on cancer in the mix and some days I want to raise up the white flag. But I really do get so much energy from all of you. And my wine and cupcakes. 🙂
To update on the latest, we met with a plastic surgeon to talk reconstruction after my mastectomy. It’s not something I can do for about a year (due to the chemo and radiation treatments), but it was good to talk options with her. It’s crazy what they can do to rebuild your boobies! She will remove a muscle from my back (I’ll still have full range of motion, I just won’t be able to be a competitive swimmer) and attach it to my chest. Then she’ll insert a “tissue expander” that will be filled with saline over a few weeks until we have the right size. whew! I tell ya, the things I’ve learned in the last 3 weeks. Anyway, I’m now just going to focus on my upcoming surgery. One small step at a time.
Okay, I’m signing off now. My love to you all…
